MARR 141 - Mold Station Construction

  • Prerequisite: MARR 131 and MARR 140, or instructor approval

Provides detailed instruction in creating a mold station and a stem form from the lofting completed in MARR 40. Station and stem bevels and skin deductions are emphasized. The end product of this course will be completed mold stations and a stem for the project boat.

Contact: 60 hours lecture/lab per term

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of MARR 141, the student will be able to:

  • Calculate skin or "planking" deduction from lofting
  • Practice mold station bevel determination
  • Add stem and keel details to lofting
  • Fabricate stem and stem forms from lofting
  • Mold station construction
  • Fabricate keelson
  • Fabricate building platform (strongback)
  • Practice erecting stations, stem, keelson and transom per lofting
  • Apply longitudinal members (adding ribbands and sheer clamps)
